One area where it is very worthwhile to get an organised tour, is wine tours. The operators know the best wineries, and if you like to sample the local wines (and I suggest you do), then driving yourself is a bad idea. It’s much simpler and easier to have an organised trip take you from door to door. These are all good tours, and you’ll need to book ahed to get the dates you want.
